Immediate Effect of a Powered Prosthetic Knee on Loading Asymmetry During Sit-to-Stand Tasks in Individuals With Unilateral Transfemoral Amputation

The study evaluated eight individuals with unilateral transfemoral amputation as they completed sit-to-stand tasks using their daily-use prostheses and then a powered prosthetic knee. The powered knee produced an immediate improvement in loading symmetry, indicating more balanced weight distribution between the prosthetic and intact limbs during the movement.

Adults with unilateral transfemoral amputation complete assessments using their current microprocessor-controlled prosthetic knee, followed by evaluation after acclimation to Bio Leg®.
