New Scientific Publication on Bio Leg®: Immediate Functional Impact of Powered Micro-Processor Knee
We are pleased to announce that a scientific article related to the Bio Leg® powered micro-processor knee has been published from Professor Hobara of Tokyo University of Science, who is conducting joint research with BionicM. The study investigates how a powered knee prosthesis affects functional performance during sit-to-stand and stand-to-sit tasks in individuals with above-knee amputation.
The research shows that using a powered prosthetic knee can lead to significant improvements in loading symmetry, meaning that weight distribution between the prosthetic and intact limbs during transitions becomes more balanced compared to traditional passive prosthetic knees.
This finding suggests that incorporating powered assistance into prosthetic knee design may help users perform everyday movements, such as sitting down and standing up, with greater ease and control. Such improvements in functional mobility contribute to enhanced independence and quality of life for individuals with above-knee amputation.
